Ryan Millington, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Millington grew up in a small town in south Texas about 60 miles south of San Antonio. Having lived a small town life, moving to the “big city” of Austin to attend the University of Texas for undergraduate schooling was quite a shock. After pursuing multiple different disciplines during his time at UT, it wasn’t until his senior year that he discovered that veterinary medicine was the path for him. Being drawn to the science of problem solving, the service associated with the healthcare professions and the variable nature of the “day to day” that is inherent to a practicing veterinarian, veterinary medicine seemed to be an attractive profession.
Dr. Millington was accepted into St. George’s School of Veterinary Medicine on the island of Grenada in the Caribbean. After spending three years there and another 12 months in College Station at Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine, he graduated in January of 2008
After graduation from SGU, Dr. Millington has spent the last 16 years practicing veterinary medicine in the Austin area in an array of positions. Most of his work has been in the area of emergency medicine, but has also spent significant time as a relief veterinarian, a general practice veterinarian, house-call veterinarian (even starting his own practice) and even a short stint as a practice owner.
That wide range of experience has allowed him to develop a lot of relationships within the veterinary community and being able to see a wide range of philosophies of practicing veterinary medicine. Allowing him to see what works, what doesn’t, and ultimately form his method of practicing to best serve his clients.
Dr. Millington is married with four kids. Most of the time, he and his wife are quite busy attending their multiple different sporting events. However, in some of the free time he does have he enjoys volunteering at school functions, including manning the grill during football season and coaching track in the spring.
