Our busy 9 doctor veterinary practice located in the heart of Lakeway is looking for Veterinary Technicians. The ideal candidate for this position must have Veterinary Technician experience, exemplary customer service, be computer proficient (AviMark software experience a plus), possess the ability to learn and adapt quickly, multi-task in a busy environment and maintain a positive attitude.

Job Description

This position has a direct impact on the life of another living creature. “We treat our pets like family” is our organization’s motto and we expect our veterinary technicians to do that. This position works closely with veterinarians on staff and with our clients to make sure that the highest level of pet care is achieved. As part of the hospital team, the veterinary technician is responsible to adhere to all protocols in line with the hospitals goals, strategy, procedures and values. This position will assist in all veterinary services and fundamentals to ensure that all services are provided prior to the pet(s) leaving the hospital.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greet clients and pet(s) in a friendly, open manner
  • Collect pet(s) temperature/weights and record for each visit
  • Obtain and record patient case histories
  • Collect specimens and perform laboratory procedures
  • Provide specialized nursing care
  • Prepare animals, instruments and equipment for surgery and treatment
  • Assist in diagnostic, medical and surgical procedures
  • Assist with digital X-Rays
  • Supervise and train new hospital personnel
  • Stock and maintain medicines and supplies
  • Assist with kennels and boarders
  • Provide any other general support to veterinarians and other hospital employees as needed

Education

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • CVA certification preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years Veterinary clinic experience required
